Before you change notifications

Notification preferences decide which account events, scan states, report updates and billing messages reach each user. Use this page when messages are too broad, missing or going to the wrong team for a specific account. Preferences are account-scoped. Changing one account does not update another owned account, team account or agency workspace.

Choose account topics

Follow the path `Accounts → Account detail → Notification preferences → Save preferences`.

  1. Open /accounts and choose the account whose messages should change. Result: the account detail page shows Notification preferences scoped to that account, not every workspace.
  2. Turn Report-ready email on when owners or admins should know that a report can be reviewed. Result: report completion messages stay tied to the selected account.
  3. Turn Monitoring alert email on when recurring scan changes should be emailed. Result: monitoring findings do not depend on someone manually checking the dashboard.
  4. Keep Billing lifecycle email on for the people responsible for plan, payment and renewal state. Result: billing blockers are visible before scans, reports or monitoring are interrupted.
  5. Choose Team recipients, such as Owners and admins, so routine messages go to the smallest useful group. Result: viewers or unrelated teammates are not copied unnecessarily.
  6. Click Save preferences. Result: the saved notification state applies to future account, report, billing and agency-client events for this account.

Verify delivery state

If expected email is missing, confirm the user email address is verified and that the event belongs to the account you changed. For agency work, confirm agency client status updates and client portal digest are enabled from the agency workspace when those topics are needed.

Continue to billing state

After notification routing is correct, continue to [Understand entitlements and services](/docs/billing/packages-and-credit-state) so billing and account coverage blockers are understood before scans or reports stop. If notifications are supporting client delivery, return to [Share client reports](/docs/accounts/share-client-reports).

Availability boundaries

Notification delivery depends on verified channels, account membership and topic eligibility.

  • Unverified email means the user should verify their address before relying on email delivery.
  • Owner-only billing topic means billing lifecycle messages should stay enabled for the people responsible for payment and renewal state.
  • Viewer role means a user may receive review notifications but cannot manage account-wide notification preferences.
  • Wrong account context means notifications may look missing because the event happened in another account.
  • Agency client topics appear only when the account supports agency client status updates and portal digests.
